LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Lima Salvation Army is gearing up for a busy holiday season, and they need your help to assist families this Christmas.
With their partners, the Lima Noon Optimist Club and the Marine Corps Reserve, they kicked off their 2023 Toys for Tots campaign. The Salvation Army helps around 1,700 kids each year with three or more presents, plus they aid other organizations with their toy giveaway programs. So, the boxes will be going out to 180 locations around Allen County to collect the toys.
“Our focus area is 0 to 12, that is our main focus area for toys,” says Paul Downing, Lima Noon Optimist/Salvation Army. “They do need to be new and unwrapped and we do that so we can have the parents get involved with the wrapping and different things like that. We are starting today till December 11th, is when we will be out there. Then we will start picking the boxes up and packing the bags.”
Downing says if your business would like to have a box to collect toys call the Salvation Army and ask for him. Hometown Stations will be helping Toys for Tots with our annual Truckload of Toys event. This year it will be happening on December 2nd from 12:30 to 2:30 pm. at the Allentown Wal-Mart. So, bring us a new unwrapped toy to help area kids have a Merry Christmas this year and we will give you a Kewpee Hamburger Coupon as a way to say thanks.
