OTTAWA, Ohio (WLIO) - 20 years after the incident happened, a man will be facing murder charges for the death of his son in Putnam County.

40-year-old Travis Soto is scheduled to go to trial in August for the 2006 death of his son. Soto was originally sentenced on child endangering charges, after he claimed he hit his son with an ATV. But after serving his time on those charges, in 2016 he walked to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office and said he made the story up and he beat his son to death. He was indicted on murder and other charges.

Over the last 10 years the case has moved throughout the court system to the Ohio Supreme Court, trying to decide if he could be charged again for the same incident. He recently was found competent to stand trial and the new trial date has been set.
