Friday is the last day you can pay your real estate taxes in Allen County without penalty.
The county treasurer says that as of Wednesday they've had about 50% payment of taxes due. The last few days are always a busy time for people paying their taxes and they usually get around 90% of the taxes due paid on time. If you are finding it difficult to pay your taxes in full pay a portion and contact their office to make arrangements on the remainder.
Allen County Treasurer Krista Bohn explains, “If there’s a portion of it that you can pay go ahead and get that paid because your late penalty is only on what is not paid by the due date. The other thing is if you are the owner-occupant of the property, and you haven’t had any payment plan in the past you can always reach out to my office about 2-weeks after the tax collection because we have to get everything settled first then we can also assist you in some payment plans.”
