LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – The bidding was fast and furious as people tried to take home items from the 175th Allen County Fair.
The Nutrien Plaza Stage was packed with auction items, including wood sculptures carved this week by the Bear Hollow Wood Carvers, bottles of wine that competed at the fair, and hanging baskets that decorated the midway.

All of the money raised supports the Allen County Agricultural Society’s scholarship and grant program. This year, the society awarded 10 scholarships worth $750 each, along with its first-ever success grant to help a student entering the trades following high school.
“That really fulfills what our mission is here at the fairgrounds and as an agricultural society, we're promoting the talented youth that we have in this community through agricultural experiences, and being able to give back to them in this way is not only going to help them further their education, but also, if they're going right into the workforce, it's going to help give them a leg up as they make that transition from high school to the workforce,” said Troy Elwer, Allen County Fairgrounds promotions and operations manager.
New to the auction block this year were watercolor paintings created by Ethan Jordan, who captured different sights of the 175th Allen County Fair.
