LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Construction on the new Allen County Government Center remains on schedule as county officials continue to monitor progress on the $17 million project.

County leaders recently toured the site to get an updated look at the work being completed both inside and outside the building. Crews are nearing completion of the exterior, with sidewalks and curbs currently being poured around the facility. Inside the building, workers are installing carpeting and cabinetry as construction moves closer to the final stages.

The new government center is designed to house multiple county offices in what officials describe as a more customer-friendly environment for residents conducting business with the county.

“The goal is to get this building functioning and then roll right into the courthouse and get that redeveloped into a judicial center for our courts,” said Allen County Commissioner Cory Noonan.

Noonan said the anticipated completion date for the government center is mid-October.
