ALLEN EAST, Ohio (WLIO) - Allen East held a mock crash to educate their students on the dangers of distractive driving.

Organized by the Students Against Destructive Decisions club, or SADD, a full crash was on display for students to view.

A story was told during the event, explaining the driver had been texting on his phone, which led him to crash into another vehicle. The mock crash had help from various fire departments and other responders to show the reality of a car accident. Students were able to witness first-hand what happens to those who decide to drive recklessly.

"I mean, it's just to send a really strong message. I mean, nothing really sends the message like seeing your classmate die. So, kind of the ultimate, you have to see this, you have to listen, you have to feel the impact," says Cole Kruger, Co-President for the Allen East SADD Club.

"Personally now, I don't know if I could ever get into a driver's seat, and either hold a phone or do something like that now because I almost physically started to feel how it would be, and it was terrifying," says Colton Kissling, Co-President for the Allen East SADD Club.

Students were then encouraged to make a commitment not to text and drive by signing a banner.
