LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – The Lima City Schools have officially hired their new superintendent.
During a special meeting, the board approved Andre Rudolph to lead the district following the retirement of current Superintendent Jill Ackerman this summer. Rudolph is currently serving as the assistant superintendent of Reynoldsburg City Schools. He said he is committed to supporting the district’s mission of creating an environment in which every student can learn and is ready to get started this summer.
“Most importantly for me right now, I really just want to come in and listen, watch and observe and find out everything that's going on in our buildings, what's going well, what's not going so well, where we can improve. But most importantly, I just want to learn. So I don't have this big vision where I'm just going to come in and change anything. I really just want to sit back, watch and observe and then collaboratively, we'll work to make changes little by little,” said Andre Rudolph, new Lima City Schools superintendent.
“When he came in front of the board, he was well prepared, and he gave us a new vision for the Lima City School District. And he is just great with staff. He's great with parents, and he's worked well with students. So, we thought that was something we really needed in the district, and it would be really good for us moving forward after Mrs. Ackerman's retirement,” said Deanna Reynolds-Griffin, president of the Lima City School Board.
Rudolph will officially begin his new role on Aug. 1st, though he said he expects to work with Ackerman ahead of her July 31st retirement.
