LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The Armstrong Air & Space Museum came to the Lima Public Library to teach kids about Neil Armstrong's importance in American history.
Kids learned about the airplanes Armstrong flew, as well as the four forces of flight that allow planes to fly, which includes thrust, drag, lift, and weight. The lesson ended with a workshop where kids decorated their own wooden airplanes. Museum educators said the outreach program is meant to build interest in aerospace engineering careers and to help inspire new pilots and astronauts.
"We want kids to learn and explore and maybe consider careers in being airplane pilots, working at an airport, or even being an astronaut one day," said Melissa Moeller, museum education coordinator. "We're trying to encourage them to develop an interest in science and history."Â
