BLUFFTON, Ohio (WLIO) - It was all aboard for the 3rd annual Bluffton History Day, because the Bluffton Ohio Historical Society wanted to showcase not only their new home, but the railroad legacy of the village.  Â
Bluffton History Day helps the organization recreate some important events in the Bluffton past, so the public can not only learn about their history and have some fun doing it.  The Bluffton Ohio Historical Society just took over their new building from the Bluffton Sportsman’s Club, which was originally a depot for the railroad that ran through the village.
“It’s exciting to keep history alive. This particular depot was actually moved from the other side of town, and where we're standing right now, was part of the AC&Y Railroad (Akron, Canton and Youngstown Railroad), and this was put together in 1986, it was moved. The Bluffton Sportsman's club took care of all that, and they managed this facility up to this point, and we just recently acquired it,” says Dan Groman, Bluffton Ohio Historical Society.Â
Now that they have the building, the Bluffton Ohio Historical Society is looking at ways to preserve the village’s past.Â
“We didn't exist until just a couple years ago, and everybody said that we need to do this, and just never happened. We just finally did. So, it's really neat we can start gathering up some of the memorable things from Bluffton. There's a lot of things in our past that people don't know about, and it's really neat to make the awareness out there so people know about it,” adds Groman. Â
