LIMA, Ohio - The Board of Directors of the Veterans Memorial Civic & Convention Center (VMCCC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Dykstra as Chief Executive Officer, effective December 1, 2025.

Brian brings more than a decade of leadership experience in nonprofit management, the performing arts, strategic advancement, and organizational development. His background reflects a rare blend of operational expertise, fundraising success, and a deep personal passion for arts and community engagement—values that align closely with the mission of the VMCCC.

Most recently, Brian served as Chief Operating Officer and Interim Executive Director at All Belong Center for Inclusive Education, where he implemented strategic systems to strengthen operations across HR, finance, marketing, and program delivery. As a trained actor and vocalist with a long-standing commitment to the performing arts, Brian brings a strong understanding of the role cultural institutions play in shaping civic life. In his application and interviews, he emphasized his belief in the VMCCC’s dual purpose—as both a memorial honoring those who served and a vibrant cultural hub for Allen County.

“The VMCCC embodies gratitude, civic pride, and creativity,” Brian shared. “Its mission to honor veterans while enriching the community through the performing arts is deeply inspiring. I’m honored to help steward its next chapter of growth and connection.”

Board President Scott Neth expressed the Board’s enthusiasm for Brian’s appointment:

“Brian’s experience, strategic mindset, and collaborative leadership style stood out in an extremely competitive search. His ability to unite vision with execution and his passion for community-centered arts make him an ideal fit for the VMCCC. We look forward to working with him as we continue to strengthen and expand the Civic Center’s impact.”

Brian has personal ties to the Lima region through his wife’s family and shared that he has long admired the community’s momentum, investment, and cultural vibrancy.

The Board also extends its appreciation to the VMCCC’s leadership team and staff for their dedication during this period of transition. Their commitment has ensured steady operations and continued service to the community.
