ELIDA, Ohio (WLIO) — Elida High School was placed on lockdown Friday morning after a report of a student possibly displaying a weapon, but authorities said no active threat was found.

According to a press release from the school district, a community member reported seeing a student displaying a weapon inside a vehicle while on the way to school.

Law enforcement officers arrived at the high school shortly after the school day began, and the building was placed on lockdown as a precaution.

Officials said the student believed to be involved was quickly identified. Law enforcement searched classrooms and lockers inside the school, as well as vehicles in the parking lot. Authorities also reviewed video surveillance during the investigation.

No weapon was found during the search.

The lockdown was later lifted, and school officials said there was no active threat to students or staff. The Elida school district also thanked law enforcement agencies for their quick response to the situation.
