LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Family Promise of Lima-Allen County has a new name: Family Promise of Northwestern Ohio.
The organization says the change reflects its growth beyond Allen County. Leaders say they served 10 families in Van Wert County last year and seven in Auglaize County. Family Promise provides emergency shelter for families experiencing homelessness, along with classes in parenting, financial literacy and budgeting to help them regain stability. Officials say while the name is changing, the mission remains the same.
“This is just a reflection of the families that we’re already serving. Our roots are still here in the Lima community. Of course, all of your donations still remain the same — serving homeless families in our community, moving them through the program, getting the skills they need to get into homes and then stay in those homes. That’s our main goal,” said Hellen Douglas, executive director of Family Promise of Northwestern Ohio.
