LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Families at Freedom Elementary participated in board game night.

Each month, Freedom Elementary hosts a type of family night for students and parents to bond and have fun together. By creating these types of events, families are able to take a step back from the typical routine and enjoy a night of fun. With this month's theme being board games, each station has a different type of game for every family to enjoy. There was life sized tic, tac, toe, Jenga, and other classic board games to spark critical thinking, as well as enjoying afterschool activities.

"The parents and students can come in and be in our school setting, not just the academic piece. So, we want to make sure they're welcome, feel welcome, want to be here and interact with our staff members. So, it's important to offer our family nights, and we typically do that once a month," says Angela Meyer, School Counselor of Freedom Elementary School.

"We get to like, play a lot of games. Tic-Tac-Toe, Toss-e, and some other games," says Josie Elliot, 4th Grader at Freedom Elementary School.

By having this bonding moment for parents and kids alike, families can learn more about their child's school system and have some fun with it. These events are held monthly to give Freedom Elementary families a chance to hang out with the staff and their children.
