LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – Some radio control pilots will be showing off their need for speed at the annual Lima Area Radio Kontrol Society’s Jet Rally.

Pilots from across the tri-state area will gather at the LARKS field, located between Delphos and Elida on State Route 309, to demonstrate the fast-paced action of turboprop and turbine model aircraft. Some of the aircraft are modeled after military and high-performance jets, with speeds that could reach up to 200 miles per hour. Members of the LARKS are inviting the public to come out and watch what they call some of the fastest action in the sky.

“It's definitely spectator sport. If you're not into the actual modeling part of it, you'll see things out here tomorrow and Saturday that is rare to see. This event showcases the higher end part of the hobby, as far as the turbine powered jets. Our speed limit for this event is 200 miles an hour," said Ron Ballard of the Lima Area Radio Kontrol Society.

The L.A.R.K.S field is located at 7651 Elida Rd., Delphos.  Friday August 29th  will feature open flying for all makes and models of aircraft. On Saturday, August 30th, the opening ceremony will begin at 10 a.m., with demonstrations scheduled to start around noon. Admission is free, and food will be available for purchase.
