LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - On Tuesday, the Johnny Appleseed Park District hosted an "Imaginature Playgroup" for kids to get outside and explore nature.
A naturalist was on site leading a short program before families were invited to explore the park's natural playscape, which includes a wooden teepee and the creek.
"Being out in nature can help relieve stress, and it's just really good for them. Get your vitamin D, it helps get their energy out for their parents later, and it helps them get outside. A lot of times, when school is over, a lot of kids will kind of lean towards wanting to stay inside, watch TV, and this gets them out, away from screens, out in nature and just get to enjoy themselves," said Cadence Richard, a seasonal naturalist for the JAMPD.
