LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The city of Lima marking a major step forward in its downtown revitalization efforts during Monday's Lima city council meeting.
Lima City Council unanimously passed ordinance 84-26 - allowing mayor Sharetta Smith to sell the Riverfront One property located on Main Street, to GEYDE Lima, LLC. The vote was followed by a presentation from the company's owner, who shared plans for the redevelopment of the site. The company has committed 3 million dollars into the property and plans to transform the building into a mixed-use space, with the first floor being retail development, along with 20-30 market-rate residential apartments.
"We intentionally looked at long-term investments south of the river, and so, this project is going to be a signal that the revitalization that is happening in the downtown will begin to continue throughout our neighborhoods," says Sharetta Smith, mayor for the city of Lima.
The riverfront one building holds rich history, and the city plans to redevelop the space to provide housing in downtown Lima, and to expand opportunity throughout Lima.
