Lima Public Library announces major renovations to improve accessibility

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The Lima Public Library is announcing their upcoming building renovations to better meet the needs of the community.

Modern changes will be happening at the Lima Public Library, including a 4 thousand square foot addition to meet more critical needs. In place there will be an elevator, more restrooms, additional meeting rooms, and two updated entrances. The library says that the renovation reflects the ongoing commitment to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all patrons.

"The library got a face-lift back in the 90s, and it's kind of showing its age with the ramps. And, people, you know, parents who have strollers are struggling, people who have wheelchairs are struggling, and so this elevator is going to give increased access to the library," says Liz Smith, head of Public Relations at the Lima Public Library.

The renovation is set to begin the week of May 18th, and construction is going to take around a year. This will alter the current entrance, as well as suspending the lower-level meeting rooms.
