LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The Ohio State University at Lima is launching a new program aimed at making higher education more accessible for students facing financial barriers.

The “Regional Campus Commitment” program offers a free education to eligible students. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have a combined family income of $100,000 or less. The program begins with the 2026 autumn semester, and students must start their college education at a regional campus, such as Ohio State Lima.

Regional Campus Commitment offers financial relief for college students

“So it's a great opportunity to lift that financial barrier, and that's what our mission is at the university, to be able to have access, make it affordable, of course, with our academic excellence,” said Bryan Albright, assistant dean of student success. “But this just lifts that financial barrier for students who are very excited, where students don't have to worry about financing their education, they can just focus on their academic studies.”

In addition, Ohio State is waiving the $60 application fee for first-year applicants who apply to a regional campus through Dec. 1. Students can take advantage of the fee waiver by entering the code RCW2026 when prompted.
