LIMA, OH (WLIO) — Dancers from across the region had the opportunity to sharpen their technique and learn new skills during the second annual Dance Prodigy Competition convention. The event is designed to help dancers advance in their development.
Students participated in a fast-paced workshop led by professional dancers. The convention was divided into two age groups: elementary students and junior high/high school students. Organizers said the day was meant to provide a supportive and motivating environment for dancers to reach their full potential.
“Unlike being in a studio, we're up on the stage, so they kind of feel that great performance energy that you don't get on a weekly basis. So getting out here to the Civic Center and learning at a quicker pace and with kids that you're usually not with on a weekly basis. I think it's great for them to maybe dance with some of their friends from other studios, so they can see their level and check out some of the things that they're learning. It's just a great collaborative effort for all the kids to be together,” said Lyn Mulcahy, director of the Dance Prodigy Competition.
Dancers are invited to return to test their skills at the 11th annual Dance Prodigy Competition on Feb. 22. More information is available at www.danceprodigycompetition.com
