LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The West Ohio Food Bank is encouraging residents to help “Spark Change” in the fight against hunger through a national fundraising campaign.
Now through May 3, shoppers can participate in the campaign at Walmart and Sam’s Club locations. The initiative raises money for Feeding America, of which the West Ohio Food Bank is an affiliate, with funds ultimately supporting hunger relief efforts across the organization’s 11-county service area.
Jason Aldrich, communications and public relations manager for the West Ohio Food Bank, says there are multiple ways for people to contribute.
“There are three ways to donate - you can round up your total at the register, purchase specifically marked items, and giving directly online,” Aldrich said.
Since its launch in 2014, the national campaign has generated more than $227 million and helped provide more than 2 billion meals to those in need.
Local officials say every dollar raised through the campaign will help provide food and resources to families facing food insecurity throughout west central Ohio.
