LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - A local organization recently hosted its second annual community event aimed at raising awareness and offering support to residents in Lima who are struggling with addiction.
APALD, or the Association for People Against Lethal Drugs, is a nonprofit dedicated to spreading awareness about drug addiction and advocating for change in response to Ohio’s ongoing drug crisis. The outreach event featured a variety of resource booths, including crisis centers, hospitals, and Narcan training sessions to educate attendees on how to respond to overdoses and access help.
In addition to informational resources, the event brought the community together with live music, inspirational testimonies, and raffles.
“Educate parents in our community on the dangers of street drugs, and the fact that illicit drugs remain the number one cause of death in America. So, it’s really important that the community gets together and is informed,” said Diane Urban, founder and president of APALD.
