Area first responders spice things up with chili cook-off

On Saturday area first responders went head to head for a chili cook-off. A total of seven police and fire departments participated in the event at the Lima Harley-Davidson. There were several types of chili- sweet and spicy and with various kinds of beans and vegetables.

For a $2 donation, people got the chance to judge the chili and pick the best one. The department with the best chili was awarded $250.They can either keep the money or donate it to a charity of their choice.

This is a part of the annual fall events that are held at Lima Harley-Davidson.

“It’s important to just get us out in the community and have something going on in the dealership to bring people in,” said Tara Joyce with the Lima Harley-Davidson In Ohio we are going into the end of riding season and it’s just kind of a celebration.”

American Township was the winner of the cook-off and Bath Township was the runner up.
