WAPAKONETA, Ohio (WLIO) - The Armstrong Museum hosted a launch party for the anticipated liftoff of the Artemis II.

The Armstrong Museum in Wapakoneta holds artifacts from not only Neil Armstrong, a Wapak native, but also many NASA facts, historical photos, and even space suits. By having this launch party here brings families together and allows them to learn from the experts about how liftoffs work. The museum implemented many dates it would extend its hours for in case of a failed launch, but Artemis II was able to successfully lift off.  This is the first time in over 50 years that humans will be back to the moon.

Armstrong Museum celebrates Artemis II launch with community and history

"Our museum opened in 1972, and that was actually the last year humans were around the moon. So, we really wanted to have a celebration that humans are going back around and having that good local connection with Neil Armstrong, and the next giant leap for us all," says Logan Rex, Communications Director for the Armstrong Museum.

After the successful liftoff, the first 40 attendees received a free poster of the Artemis II as well as a core memory with their friends and family.
