MINSTER, Ohio (WLIO) - The school year may be over but that won't stop kids in Auglaize County from reading over the summer.
The Summer Reading Challenge kicked off Friday morning and the Stallo Memorial Library in Minster welcomed all ages with their theme being Color Our World. There was face painting, games, arts and crafts and snacks for the kids as they skimmed the library shelves looking for the right books to take home.

Each child will use an online app that tracks their time spent reading as well as other activities which enters them in a pool to win door prizes donated by sponsors of the summer reading challenge. The kids in the community may be ready for summertime, but they always look forward to the summer reading program.
"We're very lucky here in Auglaize County, the kids truly just love to read, the teachers promote it, we promote it; We're very busy this time of year, and it's just a fun time for everybody and encourage them to continue to read all summer long," said Jill Barhorst, supervisor for the Stallo Memorial Library. "We have great prizes that we give away, we have great programs that are sponsored by the United Way, and it's just a fun time - the kids really do love it."
Barhorst says the library would also like to thank the local McDonalds restaurants for their generous support to the program. The summer reading challenge will continue through July 14th.
