LIMA, OH (WLIO) - On Sunday, a Bath Township resident will be celebrating both Mother's Day and her 104th birthday.
Catherine Early was born in Virginia in 1920. Her family soon relocated to Ohio seeking better employment opportunities. She was also a student of the former one-room schoolhouse, Sugar Creek School in Bath Township. Early was married to her late husband for 64 years, and has four children, eight grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. She says some of her favorite memories are of family.
"My kids, I guess, and 4-H, helping them, and just being with my family and cooking. And I always cooked well-balanced meals, thinking that would help prevent polio," Early recalled.
She credits her longevity and good health to eating lots and lots of onions.
