Pandora-Gilboa Middle School hosted professionals from a variety of fields for their college and career celebration week.
Engineers, dancers, and even those in the gourmet popcorn business visited the middle school to show students what it takes to achieve their career goals. They learned about the training and education required for different jobs, as well as the rewards.
Reporter Jenna Siffringer also spoke at the event on behalf Hometown Stations. She helped students interview each other to see what it's like to be a journalist.
(Why do you want to be a teacher?)Â "It interests me because one of my favorite teachers is actually in this room and he just is guiding me through this journey," said Austin Miller.
(What career are you interested in?) "Well, I would kind of want to be a pharmacist, but I'm in gymnastics and if I can't get into that I would like to be gymnastics coach also," said Olivia Shaneyfelt.Â
(What do you like about Career Day?)Â "Learning new stuff, what people do, and how they do it, and teach us what they do," said Thomas Bauman.Â
(Why do you want to be an athlete?)Â "One reason is because I get to run around and basically you're playing for a job," said Ethan Luginbill.Â
(Is Career Day helpful for you?)Â "Yes, because people have taught me like how to talk to people," said Meara Bolitho.Â
(What career do you want to pursue?) "Well, I actually have two, either a pastor or a teacher, if I can maybe a librarian," said Nathan Haines.Â
(Who inspires you?)Â "My mom, because she works in the medical field and she's going to school to work in the medical field," said Lexie Neuenschwander.Â
A mix of 5th through 8th graders attended the different career day presentations.Â
