An early morning fire severely damages a north side Lima home.
The Lima Fire Department was called out to 926 W. Leland Avenue just after 2:00 a.m. Thursday. According to fire officials, the fire engulfed a corner of the 1st floor, burning through the wall and ceiling. No one was home at the time of the fire and it was called in by a neighbor.
The heat from the fire caused damage to surrounding houses. The home is owned by Sally Gipson. The fire department estimates the damage to the house and its contents at $48,000.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
