The former Allen County sheriff convicted of federal crimes now has a date to report to prison.
According to his attorney, Sam Crish is scheduled to report on Novevember 18, 2019, to the Federal Correctional Institution in Welch, West Virginia. That's a medium-security prison with more than 1,600 inmates. Crish was sentenced in September to 11 years and four months in federal prison. He took a plea deal and pleaded guilty to two counts of extortion, two counts of bribery, and one count of making a false statement. He was also sentenced to pay back $606,000 in restitution. We don't know how many victims there were because those documents were sealed. Crish is eligible for early release, but not until serving 85% of his sentence.
