The Allen County deputy who shot and killed a man following a chase back in June was cleared of any wrongdoing by a grand jury.
The Allen County Sheriff's Office says that Deputy Izak Ackerman was determined to be justified in his actions for the shooting of Quincey Pritchett by the grand jury. The sheriff's office is conducting a mandatory internal review of the findings which is expected to be complete by the beginning of next week and after they will hold a press conference to talk about it.
According to sheriff's officials, on June 21, 2022, around 2:30 in the morning, Deputy Ackerman was attempting to pull over Pritchett, who didn't stop. A short car chase led to a foot chase near the intersection of Second and Taft streets where shots were exchanged, killing Prichard and striking Ackerman in the face.
