Allen County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to 2465 Elida Road (Buckeye Skills Games) on Monday, December 19, 2022 in response to an armed robbery. At approximately 7:15PM two black males with face coverings entered the business, brandishing a handgun and stole $5,000 in cash. The suspects then fled in a dark colored SUV. According to the Paulding County Sheriff Office, deputies were dispatched to 6502 Road 123 in Latty Township shortly after noon on Thursday on a welfare check. They found 60-year-old Celecitas Pelegrino Williams and her 81-year-old husband Bruce Williams dead in a barn on the property.
According to the Auglaize County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called out to Salem Township at 12:48 a.m. Sunday for a reported shooting. There they found 18-year-old Brandon Fleming with a gunshot wound. The extent of his injuries was not released, but he was transported to Mercy Health-St. Rita for treatment. The shooting is still under investigation, and the sheriff's office is not releasing any other details about the location of where the incident happened or about potential suspects in the shooting at this time.
As deputies approached Darr, shots rang out with one striking a house just 10 feet from the deputies and Darr. Multiple law enforcement officers responded, and casings were found on Prospect Avenue and fragmented pieces of a bullet from the back of the house, but no shooter was found. The school has been cleared, multiple times. There is no active shooter and there is no evidence that there had ever been one at the school. There were absolutely no injuries. A male, later identified as Derek D. Tussing (DOB 3-10-1991) of Delphos, had tried to pull a female out of her car. When he was not successful at that, he got into a nearby vehicle with the keys in the ignition. Then, at a high rate of speed, Mr. Tussing drove the vehicle directly into the grain elevator entrance, striking grain elevator employee Richard Stemen. Mr. Stemen was life flighted to a Columbus hospital for life-threatening injuries.
During the initial investigation occupants inside the residence explained that there had been a party and that some individuals had been asked to leave due to their problematic behavior. After leaving, those still inside the residence received text messages warning that something bad might happen. A few moments later a sedan, believed to be the same sedan that those who were asked to leave had been driving, drove by the residence firing rounds into it.
Paulding County deputies are asking for help in finding the suspect responsible for a weekend drive-by shooting in rural part of the county. Shortly after 8 p.m. on Saturday night, deputies responded to a call, of multiple shots being fired from a vehicle on the roadway at a home at 12504 Road 72 just north of Haviland. The homeowner, Newlyn Baker was the only person home at the time, and he was not injured during the shooting. They have no information about a possible suspect or vehicle description. On October 30, 2022, David M. Wheeler of St. Marys was arrested by Celina Police on OVI charges. Before entering the booking area of the Mercer County Adult Detention Facility, an unknown white pill was found in Wheeler's possession. While taking inventory of his personal possessions during booking, Mercer County Corrections Deputies also found a rolled-up dollar bill, which tests determined to likely be methamphetamine and fentanyl. Wheeler is being charged with an additional felony for transporting drugs into a detention facility.
