BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio (WLIO) - The saying is; what's old is new again and that's the case for a Logan County landmark.
The historic Holland theatre in downtown Bellefontaine, once again features an almost complete Marquee for the first time in decades. Crews were working to hoist the vertical "blade' portion of a new Marquee into place earlier today. A social media post from The Holland says one more piece will top off the sign, before it's complete.
The new horizontal portion of the Marquee was installed this past spring. The vertical part of the original sign for the Theatre was removed in the 19-50's because of city code changes. The lower part of the previous sign came down in the 19-60's due to traffic and street expansion. This new Marquee closely mirrors the original but uses new technology like LED, lighting. The Holland was added to the National Register of Historic Places in May 2001. A lighting ceremony for the Marquee is likely sometime in the future.
