INDIAN LAKE, Ohio (WLIO) - This weekend marks the return of an annual rite of spring in the Indian Lake area.
The 39th Maple Syrup Festival will be taking place this weekend at the Indian Lake State Park campground. Hosted by the Indian Lake Development Corporation and sponsored by many local businesses, this weekend festival is packed with programs, games, and crafting for the whole family to enjoy. Attendees are able to watch a live demonstration showcasing the transformation of sap into maple syrup - and - a pancake and sausage breakfast is also available. From face painting to dinosaur digging, families can enjoy the beginning of spring through this weekend.
"Intent is obviously a fundraiser. ILDC does a lot of activities around the Lake here. Our main interest is like putting in playgrounds around the parks," says Dale Frymyer, President of the ILDC.
The Maple Syrup fest runs from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday. Funds raised benefit several project around the Indian Lake area. For more information, check out the Ohio Department of National Resources website.
