LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Lima Sister Cities Association celebrated Japanese culture at their annual festival on Saturday.
The Lima Sister Cities Cherry Blossom Festival brought people of all backgrounds together to enjoy Japanese music, food and see examples of their clothes, toys, and books. The event also helps the organization raise money to send local youth on a trip to Japan each year. The association says that education is one of the most useful tools for helping people see past each other's differences.
"We emphasize more than just friendship with the Japanese. We also believe that we should be tolerant and seek to have peace with people of all backgrounds, all religions, all races, all cultures," explained Sandra Liechty, the vice president of the Lima Sister Cities Association.
The group says they're looking to add food trucks to next year's festival, and any interested food truck owners should contact them.
