Roy Wireman is celebrating his 71st birthday at the place he's bowled for the last fifty years-- Northland Lanes.
"It's a more homey place than all the rest of the lanes in Lima. This just, when you come here it feels like home. Everybody has camaraderie and you just have a good time," said Wireman
The celebration is bittersweet for Wireman and the other members of the senior bowling league because this is the last time they'll bowl together at Northland Lanes. The alley closes on Tuesday.
"It was really a tough decision for us because we opened back in 1961 and there are a lot of great memories we have seen here," said Wes Johnston, Northland/Westgate Lanes.
Johnston says there just wasn't enough business to keep Northland open.
I'll move on, but I still hate to see this happen," said Jack Tranthem.
Now, instead of meeting at Northland every Monday morning, members of the senior league will meet at Westgate Lanes, also owned and operated by the Johnston family.
