With the end of the school year approaching, some children may not get three balanced meals a day, but a summer lunch program aims to help with that.
The Lima City Schools is gearing up for their free lunch program for the summer. The program is open to any child age 1 to 18 years of age. You don't need to be a Lima City School student or even live in the city. The program is funded through the United States Department of Agriculture, making it available to any child meeting the age requirements. The meals will begin June 11th and end August 2nd. They are served at Heritage, Independence, Liberty, South, and Unity Elementary schools from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The Ohio State Extension's Health Kids Club will also be happening in conjunction with the summer lunch program again this year.
