After a 7 month hiatus the Lima Elks will be reopening this week.
The Lodge closed unexpectedly last July due to lack of funding, but with several months of reorganization and fundraising, Lodge 54 will open its doors this Wednesday (3/1/17). Organizers say they are looking to attract a younger crowd with a sports bar, game room, and craft beers through a major membership drive. The Lodge will be open to the public for lunch and a former downtown Lima eatery is heading up the kitchen. The Black Angus, now headquartered in Van Wert will be coming back to the city as the food service company at the Elks Lodge #54.
Renovations to the Lodge came in around $55,000 raised by donations from members and area businesses. The Lima Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks was chartered in 1886.
