Lima Firefighters extinguish garage fire

Lima Firefighters were busy late Wednesday morning as a fire broke out on the city's south side.

Several fire personnel responded to a call of a structure fire at 560 Michael Avenue shortly after 10 a.m., Wednesday morning. Once arriving, fire officials say a single vehicle garage behind the abandoned home was fully engulfed in flames. The fire was put out in about five minutes and the scene was cleared in less than an hour. No injuries were reported, but the home to the left of the garage, which is not vacant, saw roughly $5,000 in damages from the flames.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
