LPD says there could be a delay in responding to fireworks complaints

Fireworks can be full of "Oohs" and "Ahhhs", but it can create quite a disturbance too.

Unless you have a professional license to shoot off fireworks in the State of Ohio, it is illegal to so. The Lima Police Department wants everyone to understand that it will take them a while to get to every report since they will be getting many calls today. Sergeant Aaron Rode says last night they received about thirty calls and tonight they are expecting anywhere from fifty to one hundred calls because it's one of their busiest days of the year.

"All we're asking is that you be patient and be understanding with us as we have an abundance of fireworks calls so our response time is going to be just a little bit slower than what you might be used to for other calls and service," commented Rode.

Sergeant Rode says if you do see anyone setting off fireworks, you should call the police department and report it.
