LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Short-term stress can be a good motivator, but when stress lasts for a long time, it could be hazardous to your health.
Mercy Health's Community Impact Team and Activate Allen County were at Winans Coffee & Chocolate in Lima on Thursday, trying to raise awareness of how stress can affect someone. The longer stress lasts, the worse it is for both a person's mind and body. Chronic stress can cause fatigue and an inability to concentrate. It could also cause wear and tear on your body. The easiest way to beat stress before it builds up is to get your body moving.
"So, it's always great to be active," says Anisha Pridgen, Community Health Coordinator. "As the weather is changing now, people can get out for a walk, go for a bike ride, get in the gym, workout to manage their stress."
If you feel like you are having a hard time managing stress, you may need to consult your primary care physician.
