LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Music education becomes a whole lot of fun when the Lima Symphony Orchestra gets you moving with Mornings with the Maestro.

The event is held four times a year at the Lim a Public Library. Andrew Crust created an interactive program to introduce kids to the concepts of music, like beat, rhythm, and tempo. Five members of the symphony performed energic pieces to engage the kids and get them up and moving to the music. The long-running event has inspired kids to pick up instruments themselves when they get older and foster a lifelong love of music.
“I think the most important thing about our Mornings with the Maestro, rather than having a full symphony at a distance on the stage, they are right here close to kids. It’s interactive and they can touch the instruments and they can ask questions,” says Andrew Crust, LSO Maestro, and Music Director. “I think its really important to have those models in your life very close to you. To hear what a lot of practice can actually accomplish. To have it in this intimate setting is very valuable, I think.”
The next Mornings with the Maestro will be on March 9th at 10:30 am at the Lima Public Library.
