March 5, 2024 6:14 PM update from Chief Meteorologist Adam Musyt: Here's the latest from the National Weather Service on Tuesday afternoon's tornado in Putnam County. The landspout tornado has been rated EF-0 in intensity. It was on the ground for approximately one minute and traveled nearly a quarter mile. The maximum winds with this tornado were 70 MPH. Luckily there were no injuries.
PUTNAM COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - The National Weather Service is investigating the apparent spin-up of a tornado near the Putnam County village of Leipsic today.
Multiple people sending in pictures and even video from the storm that hit around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. You can see at least one building and a camper suffering damage. The Putnam County Sheriff's Office says the storm hit near County Road 5. We are told local EMA officials were out looking at the damage and for signs confirming a tornado touchdown.
