MARION TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WLIO) — A Spencerville woman was killed in a UTV crash in rural Allen County Sunday morning.

The Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says Rachel Berelsman, 28, was killed in a crash that occurred just before 11 a.m. on Defiance Trail, near Bloomlock Road. Troopers say Berelsman was traveling north when the UTV she was driving went left of center and off the left side of the road. The vehicle struck a utility pole.

She was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was taken to the Lucas County Coroner’s Office. The crash is under investigation.

State Patrol Investigates Fatal Crash in Rural Allen County

Marion Township – The Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single vehicle fatal crash which occurred on Defiance Trail near Bloomlock Road in Allen County.

On October 5, 2025, at approximately 10:57 A.M. a 2021 Polaris Ranger, operated by Rachel A. Berelsman, age 28, of Spencerville, was traveling northwest on Defiance Trailand traveled left of the centerline, off the left side of the roadway, and struck a utility pole.

Mrs. Berelsman was pronounced deceased at the scene, and was transported by H&H Funeral Services to the Lucas County Coroner’s Office. Mrs. Berelsman was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The Lima Post was assisted on scene by the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, Delphos Fire and EMS, Able Towing, H&H Funeral Services, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol reminds motorist to always wear a properly adjusted seat belt.
