ONU Political Science Professor says Voters Could Swing Based on Presidential Nominee

A recent Quinnipiac University poll shows many voters would cross party lines to keep the frontrunners out of the White House. The poll shows voters favoring Kasich over Clinton and Sanders over Trump in an election. Political Science Professor Robert Alexander says one reason is that Trump and Clinton are two of the most polarizing political figures, and most voters have their minds made up.

Alexander says this is an outsider election, but any other year candidates like Jeb Bush would succeed. He says there are strong opposers of both top candidates, but Trump's lack of political experience could swing voters. "The supporters for Donald Trump are rabid supporters for Donald Trump, but there's a lot of folks that the exit polls are showing that they will not be happy with a Donald Trump candidacy," said Alexander, "Would they be so unhappy that they would then stay home and allow a Hillary Clinton presidency? Maybe so, there might even be some folks that would be just so disgusted with Donald Trump that they might actually cast their ballot for Hillary Clinton."

Alexander says it could come down to the republican convention to decide which of the republican candidates could beat Hillary Clinton.
