The Ohio State University at Lima is officially appointing a new leader for the future today. Margaret Young has served as the interim dean and director of the branch since April 2023 and has now been appointed to the official role of dean and director by the university, effective July 1st. Young's appointment will have her oversee success programs, innovative teaching and research, and supporting community relationships. Young joined the campus as an assistant professor back in 2010 and was promoted to associate professor in 2016 and then up to assistant dean from 2019 to 2021.

Students on campus learned more about how being involved in research projects can help them in their academic careers, as well as in their life post-graduation. Professors shared ways that they can use these research opportunities to better their area of study, while also getting to know faculty and staff on a personal level.

Jon Husted connected with professors as well as industry leaders on how technology is having an impact on how agricultural methods are done. The Lt. Governor emphasized the importance of investing time into learning more about these technological advancements, while also stating that the next generation must learn now versus later on how to implement these methods on their farm.

The professors and instructor at the University of Findlay don’t stop teaching after the graduates walk through the arch at Old Main. They have been working on a variety of summer learning camps for younger kids.   Starting next week there will be the first of two pharmacy camps for incoming high school Juniors and Seniors.  Plus, there is a beginner and intermediate camp for youth horsemanship.   The advanced camp is at the end of June.  Then in July, the university of Findlay will be holding their week-long unique faith-based camp they call the Well.

Dr. Joe Brandesky will be awarded the Oscar G. Brocket Golden Pen Award for his book Jaroslav Malina In Scenography and Painting. The book recounts Malina's life from his early years under the Nazis, through communism and into the current democracy in the Czech Republic. Brandesky first met Malina when he was a doctoral student at the University of Kansas. The two forged a relationship that would last until Malina's death in 2016.

Over 20 students found out what it was like to be a Buckeye at Ohio State Lima this morning. Prospective students got to sit down with admissions and financial aid staff to answer any questions that they might have. Plus they also took a tour of the different programs and met professors and students to get an idea of what it is like to attend the Lima campus.
