Pelanda talks about the future of farming during ELIDA FFA Banquet

The Elida FFA brings in the state’s top agricultural official to speak at their annual banquet. Ohio Department of Agricultural Director Dorothy Pelanda talked to the student about her department and the future of agriculture in the state. Farmers are using technology like drones out in the field to get them the best data possible to correctly manage their crops. She also talked about the conservation efforts that farmers are taking part in as part of a new state program.

“Farmers are true conservationists and we have seen this through Gov. DeWine’s H2Ohio Program. Farmers have taken responsibility for clean water,” says Pelanda. “As we roll out this program across the state, farmers have taken the initiative to say that this is our responsibility to retain nutrients and the water in the land. To show others through our own practices what we can do to be innovative. “

The Elida FFA also recognized members for their efforts this past year for their different projects and competitions they took part in.
