Portman says senate should focus on inflation when they return to Washington

The U.S. Senate will be back in session on January 3rd and one Ohio Senator say they need to hit the ground running. Rob Portman is heading into his final year in the Senate and he thinks that lawmakers should focus on few things when they get back to work. One being the pandemic and help fast track any treatments that are being worked on to reduce the severity of the virus. Another is the growing inflation that is causing prices to rise in all sectors of the economy.

Portman says senate should focus on inflation when they return to Washington

“Right now we have record high inflation. For the last 39 years, we haven’t had inflation this high and we have more and more people, particularly people on a fixed income, young people, other who are just having a real tough time getting by,” says Portman. “Wages are up a little bit and that is good, but inflation is up higher, and we are seeing a paycheck that is buying less and less.”

Portman says by focusing on getting the inflation out of the economy, will be better for low to middle-class families that are having a harder time with the cost increases.
