Putnam County properties damaged by wind

Three Putnam County owned locations were damaged by winds February 19th.

Damage was listed at more than $200 thousand to the Putnam County Jail, the Probation Office across the street from the courthouse and the former Putnam Acres building.

Putnam County Commissioner Vincent Schroeder says the losses were insured.

“Most of it is vinyl roof. We have one across the street that is tin. It tore it up. Our maintenance crew was out there during the high winds of 51 mile per hour, trying to hold it down, putting block on. On the jail they put four pallets of block and at our own nursing home Putnam Acres they put about the same amount of block on,” said Schroeder.

Putnam County belongs to a multi-county insurance consortium, involving 66 Ohio counties and should only have to pay a deductible of $2500 to cover the damage.
