Rally in the Square kicks of three decades of downtown music

The rain rolled through Lima tonight, but it didn’t dampen the spirits of a couple events.

Rally in the Square is back for their 30th year and they are bringing a festival atmosphere to downtown Lima. The summer-long concert series is a great way for the public to enjoy a wide sample of music, like blues, rock or country. Organizers say that the Rally brings in music lovers from all walks of life, and they are even offering more to grow that crowd even larger.

“We are bringing back the food trucks again this year, and something new, we want to bring in a younger audience. We love our lawn chair patrons, but we would like to get some young people down at the rally. So we are offering a free kids activity between 6 and 8 p.m.,” said Kay VanMeter, Assoc. Mgr, ArtSpace/Lima.

Next week SaMax will be taking the stage at 6:30. The doors open at 5:30 and the cost to get into Rally is 2 dollars.
