Saint Anthony's Found Peace hosts adult prom focused on hope and healing

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — A local nonprofit is inviting the community to an adult prom designed to promote mental health awareness, addiction recovery and suicide prevention while reminding people they do not have to face life's challenges alone.

Saint Anthony's Found Peace is hosting the event to celebrate hope, healing and recovery. Organizers say the evening is intended to create a welcoming environment where people can connect, start meaningful conversations and support one another.

The organization believes every person deserves to be seen, valued, supported and celebrated, regardless of where they are on their mental health or recovery journey.

"Our main topic this time is suicide prevention. As we all know, there's been a few suicides from kids to adults. So a big one is to talk about suicide prevention and how we can do things, how we can move instead of just talking," said Abigail Gasu, a family nurse practitioner.

The adult prom will be held Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Veterans Memorial Civic Center in Lima's Town Square. Tickets and additional event information are available by searching Saint Anthony's Found Peace on Facebook. Organizers also will provide assistance for those who need an outfit or hair styling for the event. Proceeds from the prom will benefit the Health Roots Healing Center, supporting mental health services throughout the Lima area.
