BUCKLAND, OH (WLIO) - The Buckland Volunteer Fire Department battled a house fire Saturday evening that spread to the home next door. Around 6 pm, firefighters arrived to a two-story house fire on Ridge Street. Heavy flames reached the attic and eventually spread to a second home. An excavator had to be used to remove the roof of the first building to finally put out the blaze. Saturday's low temperatures and high wind speeds made both fires very difficult to put out. The cause of the fire is currently being investigated by the Ohio State Fire Marshal, and eight other fire departments were on the scene to provide aid.
